Chamber of Commerce Awards US Business Leader Steve Menzies First Bold Entrepreneur and Humanitarian Award during Annual Albuquerque Gala
Over 3,000 attendees hear Menzies urge “Financial Commitment Plus Engagement” as formula for business and social success

(Albuquerque, New Mexico… Saturday, March 12, 2022) Leading US entrepreneur, Steve Menzies, founder and chairman of Applied Underwriters, received the first Bold Entrepreneur and Humanitarian Award of the Hispano Chamber of Commerce during its Annual Gala in Albuquerque with over 3,000 attendees. The event’s theme was “Launching a Bold Tomorrow.”
In presenting the award, Albuquerque Mayor Timothy Keller cited Menzies’ valiant and bold volunteer leadership in rescue missions, hostage release initiatives and other humanitarian work, undertaken while leading Applied Underwriters to its position of great financial and market strength.
In accepting the award, Mr. Menzies stated that, “advocacy, optimism, and boldness are the order of the day” for business leaders to bring about positive change in business and in society. He outlined for the assembled business leaders, entrepreneurs and public officials a formula for succeeding, holding that financial commitment becomes meaningful only when combined with advocacy and engagement.
Mr. Menzies, who expressed a great affection for New Mexico, thanked the Chamber for their longstanding advocacy, support and optimism, the key elements for entrepreneurial success: “Entrepreneurship, intelligent risk-taking – these are the drivers of business and society. The entrepreneurial spirit is not a gift given to everyone; it is a special drive, an ambition to better ourselves economically, and to better the world around us.”
He noted further that many businesses’ futures are entwined with upward economic mobility, great aspirations and economic goals such as the ownership of property and the resulting independence, income creation and control, which brings good living, integrity and dedicated service, gaining loyalty for us all.
